     Public Financing in US Elections
CGS has studied public financing laws in the United States for over 25 years. CGS is conducting a multi-year comparative research project on the effectiveness of public financing laws adopted in jurisdictions across the country. CGS has published several reports including the first comprehensive effort to analyze and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of state and local public campaign financing programs in the United States, a primer on public financing, a report on new sources of money to sustain public campaign financing programs, and extensive reviews of several local and state public financing laws currently in place. CGS has also published state and local public financing charts and maps that show where public programs exist and provide details about those programs.
