To help policymakers and the media navigate the complex and often controversial health reform debate, the Center for Governmental Studies and the California HealthCare Foundation have partnered to create CalHealthReform.org, a single, non-partisan resource for comprehensive information and analysis, discussion and news about health care reform in California. A nonpartisan, one-stop shop of information and analysis, CalHealthReform.org helps policymakers and the media sort through the competing facts and figures available to them, better allowing them to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the various reform proposals. The website has covered California's health reform debate throughout the 2007 and 2008 legislative sessions. After a year of debate and negotiation, but an impasse on concrete legislation, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger called a special session on health reform in late September 2007. In January 2008 Governor Schwarzenegger and the California State Legislature failed to enact comprehensive health care reform. The governor has resolved to continue to work for comprehensive health reform legislation. CalHealthReform.org will continue to follow developments in the health reform debate.
